Bridges of Madison County


Auditions for Bridges of Madison County will be held:
March 17th and 19th at 6 pm
and March 22 at 10 am

Auditions will consist of a singing portion and cold reads from the script. Audition sides will be available for preview closer to the posted audition dates.

Those looking to audition are encouraged to prepare a verse and chorus of a song that best showcases the singer’s vocal range. Songs can be from any genre related to the show’s score, including but not limited to classical, musical theatre, Americana, folk, 60s pop, or country. Those auditioning for the role of Francesca are encouraged to prepare a classical or musical theatre related piece. Please bring an extra copy of your music, as a pianist will be available for accompaniment. A speaker will be available to connect to in order to play accompanying instrumental music, although an a cappella performance is allowed!

Characters:

Francesca – Late 30s/Early 40s – a beautiful Italian woman, generous, luminous, and funny, now married to a farmer living in Iowa. Operatic Soprano (G3 – G#5)

Richard “Bud” Johnson – Francesca’s husband – mid 40’s an Iowa farmer, a good guy, diligent and dependable, but always exhausted and irritated that things haven’t gotten easier. Baritone (C3 – F4)

Robert Kincaid – 40-50 – a ruggedly handsome, worldly, visionary photographer. Baritone (B2 – A4)

Michael – Francesca and Bud’s son – age 16. Tenor (E3 – G#4)

Carolyn – Francesca and Bud’s daughter – age 14. Soprano (A3 – C5)

Marge – 45-60 – Francesca’s neighbor, sassy and nosy. Alto (G3 – C5)

Charlie – 60s – Marge’s husband. Bass (E3 – C4)

Marian – early 30s – Robert’s former wife – a musician. Mezzo-Soprano (A3 – D5)

Ensemble – approximately 5-10 members of any age or gender expression, make up a variety of roles, with some featured singing.
